The Artist’s Rulebook and the Equation of Motion

Before a single frame was rendered, supervising animator Glen Keane created a hair bible for Rapunzel. Her hair, he wrote, should never fall straight. i It needed rhythm, curve, and grace. To make that happen, engineers built Dynamic Wires, a tool based on Hooke’s Law:
